Award-winning illustrator Matt Swaim is nationally recognized for architectural rendering and illustration.
Matt Swaim earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration in 1995 from the Savannah College of Art and Design and his Master of Fine Arts in Visual Art from Jacksonville University in 2015.
Since 1995, Matt has focused his career in the area of architectural illustration and visualization. With over 25 years in the architectural rendering profession, eight of which were under the tutelage of Robert C. Winters of Jacksonville, Florida. He has illustrated well over 1,000 renderings in a variety of traditional and digital styles and techniques for clients throughout the United States and abroad. Matt is continuously exploring new artistic applications and techniques in an effort to continue offering his clients professional presentation solutions that set their projects apart from their competitors.
Studio-Swaim’s styles and techniques provide clients with an illustration of professional quality along with the personal touch that they desire. The studio’s objective for each project is to work in conjunction with the client to provide the most effective presentation and sales tool for the project. Whether it is a small sketch, a computer wire frame, a digital watercolor, or a full-sized formal hand-rendered illustration, the objective remains the same: to provide the best quality service combined with the best quality rendering in a process that is easily understood and enjoyable for the client.
Matt’s work has been featured in numerous publications and has been awarded the American Society of Architectural Illustrators’ internationally juried competition, Award of Excellence four times. He has been awarded Jacksonville’s AIA Lynda Mack award, and his work has been included in The American Society of Architectural Illustrators’ Architecture in Perspective traveling exhibition, The New York Society of Architectural Renderers’ The Art of the Architectural Illustrator in New York City, The Japanese Architectural Renders Association’s 2012 Exhibition of Architectural Visualization and others.
In 2019, Matt was selected to be included into the esteemed group of professional artists, illustrators, and designers that form the United States Mint’s renowned Artistic Infusion Program as one of its official artists for coin and medal design. He has since had a number of his coin and medal designs selected and minted.
Outside of architectural illustration and numismatic design, Matt also works on traditional illustration projects, is an avid pen and ink sketch artist and does commissioned colored pencil portraits. Both his architectural work and colored pencil work have been featured in Jacksonville’s Arbus magazine and his portraiture and sketches have been selected for inclusion in Northlight book’s Strokes of Genius 5, and Strokes of Genius 6. In 2019 his work was featured in Artist Magazine’s special issue “The Best of Drawing”.
